How to compress an image

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing reduce the visible quality of my image?

At the default quality setting, most images look nearly identical while being significantly smaller. You can fine-tune the quality slider and compare sizes before downloading.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API, so your images never leave your device.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

Yes. Add several images at once, and each one is compressed individually with its own before/after size, plus a ZIP download for all of them together.

What's the difference between compressing and resizing?

Compressing reduces file size mainly by adjusting image quality while keeping the same dimensions. Resizing changes the pixel dimensions. Use the Image Resizer tool if you need to change dimensions.
